MANILA, Philippines — The trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) is expected to bring rains in parts of Visayas and Mindanao, the state weather bureau said Sunday.
The LPA was estimated at 685 kilometers east southeast of Davao City, Davao del Sur, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its weather bulletin.
Eastern and Central Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, and the provinces of Sorsogon and Masbate will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the LPA’s trough.
Pagasa warned of possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rains in these areas.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon continues to affect Northern Luzon, bringing cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora.
Ilocos Region and the rest of Central Luzon, on the other hand, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
