CEBU CITY, Philippines – A graduate of the Southwestern University in Cebu City was among the top 10 passers of the January 2021 Medical Technologist (Medtech) licensure examination.
Salvador Sampayan Jr. of the Southwestern University landed on the 6th spot with a score of 89.50.
The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) released on Monday night, February 8, the results of the licensure exams for practicing medtechs.
Sampayan is the lone graduate of a Cebu-based university who made it to the list of top 10 passers.
Fred Lawrence Samante of St. Scholastica’s College – Tacloban topped the January 2021 exam with a score of 91.40. He was followed by Angelo Huliganga and Tiffany Mae Cabildo who ranked second and third respectively.
Huliganga, a graduate of Far Eastern University – Nicanor Reyes Med Foundation, scored 91.20 while Cabildo, who is from the Medical College of Northern Philippines, earned a score of 90 in the exam.
Other topnotchers were Bonifacio Coloma of the Far Eastern University – Nicanor Reyes Med Foundation (4th) , Angelica Mae Aguilar of the Saint Louis University (5th), and Jacque Andrei Ramos of the Saint Paul University – Tugegarao (7th). Clarisse Althea Adduru of the Cagayan State University – Andrews Campus and Raisa Mirza of the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Medical Center shared the 8th spot while and Tom Kairo Pacquing of the Cagayan State University – Andrews Campus landed on the 9th spot.
Albright Drew Baua of the Cagayan State University – Andrews Campus, Princess Erica Garcia of the University of Perpetual Help System – Laguna, and Nathanielle Mae Rosal of the Far Eastern University – Nicanor Reyes Med Foundation shared the 10th spot after they each scored 88.80.
PRC said 1,919 of 2,835 examiners passed the licensure examination that were administered in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Pampanga, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga last January.
“Those who failed to pass the board examination for Medical Technology but had obtained a general rating of at least 70 percent can register as Medical Laboratory Technician,” PRC added. /dcb
