MANDAUE CITY, Philippines — Seven newly hired nurses of the Mandaue City government are undergoing rescue training today, February 13 in Mandaue City.
Felix Suico Jr., operations head of the city’s Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO), said the nurses were former contact tracers by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) where they were previously assigned and wer hired by the city after their contracts ended.
Suico said the nurses would be assigned in the various ambulances of the city as required by the Department of Health (DOH).
Currently, the city’s DRRMO has two nurses.
He said since they would be assigned in the DRMMO, they should learn rescue training just in case they would respond to accidents and disasters.
The rescue training is comprised of high angle, basic fire fighting, crash and rescue among others.
Mariel Enriquez, a nurse, admitted that she was new to the training because it was different from what she was used to.
The training will end today, February 13, 2021 and the nurses will start working on Monday, February 15, 2021. /dbs
