MANDAUE CITY, Cebu – Ongoing works on the upgrade of Cebu City’s traffic lights is now 90 percent complete.
Mayor Edgardo Labella shared the development on his social media page on Saturday, February 20, after he received a project status report from the Department of Engineering and Public Works (DEPW).
The installation of digital traffic lights is part of the city’s Digital Traffic System project.
“We are implementing this upgrade and modernization of our traffic infrastructure through a joint venture with Cylix Technologies Inc. and Triune Electronic Systems Inc. aron pagpalambo sa atong trapiko, ug sa kaluwasan ug seguridad sa atong publiko (to improve our traffic system and ensure the safety and the security of the public),” Labella said.
Labella said that the “installation of traffic lights and conduits in the underground fiber optic network” is now being implemented along P. del Rosario St. and areas near Robinsons Mall that is located in uptown Cebu City and near Robinsons Galleria, Radisson Blu Hotel and Landers in the city’s north district.
“Once all the digital traffic lights are in place covering 18 areas or intersections in Cebu City, they will proceed to developing the Command Center nga maoy mamahimong (that will serve as the) central hub alang sa nagkadaiyang ahensya nga nagdumala sa (for the different agencies that the involved in)) traffic management dinhi sa Dakbayan sa Sugbo (in Cebu City),” the mayor said.
