CEBU CITY, Philippines — Authorities confiscated at least 500 grams or half a kilo of suspected shabu worth at least P3.4 million and arrested two men, one of them a former convict, during two separate raids in Barangay Basak Pardo in Cebu City at past noon today, February 21.
First to fall was Edward Largo, who was caught with 22 packs of suspected shabu weighing at least 500 grams or half a kilo, said Leia Alcantara, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7) spokesperson, in an interview.
Alcantara said that the confiscated suspected shabu had an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value of P3.4 million.
She said the PDEA-7 agents served a search warrant against Godofredo Larg
o Jr. and Edward Lardo in Villa San Pedro 1, Cuaco Compound in the barangay during the operation at 12:20 p.m.
However, only Edward was arrested since Godofredo was not in the house when the search warrant was served and the illegals drugs were found.
Alcantara said that Edward, 40, was a former convict, who served time in jail for illegal drugs.
He was released from jail in 2018.
Twenty minutes later, the PDEA-7 agents also served another search warrant in Sitio Cogon of the same barangay and arrested Jungie Ablaña, 36, after 47 packs of suspected shabu were found inside his house.
Alcantara said that the suspected shabu weighed 13 grams and had an estimated DDB value of P88,400.
She said that Edward Largo and Ablaña were target-listed drug personalities of PDEA-7 in Cebu City.
She said that Edward Largo could allegedly dispose at least 500 grams of shabu in a week while Ablaña could sell at least 200 grams of illegal drugs in a week.
Both men were detained at the PDEA-7 detention cell pending the filing of illegal drug charges.
