MANDAUE CITY, Philippines– Mandaue City is confident to get a high compliance rating in the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Road Clearing Operation 2.0.
Yesterday afternoon, February 23, 2021, was the final validation on the city’s road clearing operations conducted by personnel from DILG Cebu City.
JohnJoan Mende, the new director of DILG Mandaue City, said the validation turned generally well.
Mende added only a few obstructions were noted by the DILG Cebu like uncollected garbage, construction debris, illegally parked motorcycles, a removable extension of tools or structures used by trade or businesses.
Ernesto Bongo, operations head of the Mandaue City Enforcement Unit (MCEU) believed that they will get a high compliance rating on the city’s road clearing operation.

Bongo said if ever they will get a high compliance rating, they will not feel pressure on maintaining obstruction-free roads as they are constantly monitoring and will continue clearing obstructions found on the roads.
Data from the MCEU showed that, throughout their clearing, they have reported 384 obstructions, 375 or 97 percent of which were already cleared.
The data also showed that during the months of January and February, 80 percent of the city’s obstructions were illegal parking, followed by sidewalk vendors, structures, among others.
The final evaluation occurred on the city roads traversing five barangays namely Guizo, Mantuyong, Ibabao-Estancia, Alang-Alang, and Centro, shorter than the route the city took during the initial validation. /rcg
