LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines — Ten more frontliners in Lapu-lapu City tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
This was confirmed by Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan and this time those tested positive are healthcare medical workers from the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital.
“Ang nahitabo, naa tay mga frontliners nga naigo. Wala na lang gibutang nato sa facility, toa ra sila sa hospital nag-isolate. Naay mga napulo kabuok sa hospital nga gi-ipon na lang sila sa atong hospital kay they are frontliners nga na-igo,” Chan said.
(What happened is there are frontliners that got infected. We just did not put them in our facility because they are isolated in the hospital. There are 10 frontliners in the hospital, who are isolated in the hospital.)

Earlier, nine Lapu-lapu City Health Department (LCHD) employees and contact tracers also tested positive of the virus.
They are now isolated at the Lapu-lapu City College (LCC), the city’s isolation facility.
Yesterday, the city has also recorded a three-digit number of cases for the virus.

Based on the LCHD’s monitoring, as of February 26, 2021, the city logs 128 newly reported cases of COVID-19.
Chan, however, assured Oponganons that this was not alarming because this was only a result of their intensified contact tracing efforts.
“Because na sa atong marching order with our contact tracers nga wala gyuy ma-missed nila nga dili nila ma-swaban. And number two, most of the cases nga nagpositive karon are family. Usa ka pamilya, lima kabuok, sila tanan naigo,” he added.
(That is because of the marching order of our contact tracers that they should not miss swabbing anybody. And number two, most of the cases who are positive for the viruse are members of a family. One family, five members, all of them got infected.)
The report of the LCHD also shows that out of 29 barangays in the city, only four barangays are considered COVID-19 free for having zero case of the virus.
These include Barangay Talima, Caw-oy, Pangan-an, and Caohagan.
