CEBU CITY, Philippines — A 19-year-old man is facing the prospect of serving time in jail for allegedly maltreating a 7-year-old boy in Purok Onion, Barangay South Poblacion, Naga City, southern Cebu around 6 p.m., on Friday, February 26.
Police identified the suspect as Daniel Y. Echavez who reportedly punched, choked, lifted, and pinned the boy to a fence.
According to a police report from the Naga Police Station, the victim and his father went to the station to report the maltreatment committed by the suspect. The boy’s father told police that Echavez allegedly punched the victim on his neck, choked and lifted and pinned him to a fence.

Naga police immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation which resulted in the arrest of Echavez who was positively identified by the minor victim.
