CEBU CITY, Philippines — Almost P14 million worth of illegal drugs were seized, and Central Visayas police arrested 269 drug suspects during their 3-day Synchronized Enhanced Managing of Police Operations (SEMPO) conducted from February 24 to February 26, 2021.
From the 3-day operations, authorities seized 679.34 grams of suspected ‘shabu’ amounting to P4,619,512 from their 228 operations which also resulted in two fatalities.
Also, P8,700,000 worth of full-grown marijuana stalks weighing 72,500 grams was also seized within the said period.
Apart from illegal drugs, the operation also focused on illegal gambling, loose firearms, and accounting of wanted persons.
From the 156 operations conducted for illegal gambling, 315 individuals were apprehended with 269 gambling paraphernalia. From these operations, operatives also seized cash amounting to P26,217.
Meanwhile, 284 loose firearms and three explosives were confiscated while 33 individuals were arrested from at least 242 operations.
Further, out of 468 wanted persons in the region, 36 most wanted individuals and 432 other wanted persons were arrested.
Police Brigadier General Ronnie S. Montejo, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 7 (PRO-7), said that most of the police operations were successful. No operatives were also hurt from the operations.
