CEBU CITY, Philippines—Action continues in the All-Filipino Conference Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) online tournament on Wednesday, March 3, 2021.
The Cebu City Marchers will face Toledo City Trojans in their scheduled first match.
It will be an uphill virtual chess battle for the Marchers, the lowest-seeded Cebu-based team, as they take on the Trojans, the highest-seeded Cebu-based team in the tournament.
The Trojans are currently at No. 4 in the south division’s standings with 13 wins and 10 defeats while the Marchers are at the 10th spot with a 5-18 (win-loss) record.
The Trojans will field in International Master (IM) Rico Mascariñas, Glicerio Pardillo Jr., Jinky Catulay, Bonn Rainauld Tibod, Christopher Tubalado, Rommel Ganzon, Ronald Ganzon, Rogelio Enriquez Jr, Jean Jean Gacang, and Richard Natividad.
The Marchers, on the other hand, will pit NM Erwin Retanal, NM Anthony Makinano, Marphine Faith Mangubat, NM Lincoln Yap, Mark Mangubat, Cephas Seguisabal, Eduard Dela Torre, and Randy Cabungcal.
The Trojans and Marchers then proceed to play against IloIlo Kisela Knights and Zamboanga Sultans in their second match assignments, respectively.
The Lapu-Lapu City Naki Warriors, meanwhile, will face Mindoro Tamaraws in their first match and Palawan Queen’s Gambit in the second match.
The Naki Warriors are currently at No. 6 in the south division standings with 11-12 (win-loss) standings.
The Cordova Dutchess Dagami Warriors will play against Surigao Fianchetto Checkmates and Camarines Soaring Eagles for their scheduled matches.
The Dutchess Dagami Warriors are No. 8 in the standings with 7-16 record.
South Division’s top ranked team are the Negros Kingsmen (20-3) while San Juan Predators (20-3) are on top of the north division.
