MANDAUE CITY, Philippines – Mandaue City continues to prepare for its Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination program.
Lawyer Giovanni Tianero, City Budget Officer and a member of the Mandaue City COVID-19 vaccine board, said they have already identified the logistic supplies and requirements for the vaccination that includes the vaccine and medical supplies that will be provided by the Department of Health (DOH) and the medical supplies and additional manpower the city will provide.
The medical supplies the city will provide will include syringes, Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), among others.
Tianero said they have also decided to hire contractual personnel most probably medical workers that will comprise the city’s 27 vaccination teams.
Tianero added all the expenses for the supplies, salaries of the additional manpower among others will be taken from the city’s P200 million budget for the procurement of the COVID-19 vaccine.
It may be recalled that the city has allotted P200 million to purchase COVID-19 vaccines to supplement the vaccines the national government will provide.
He said the city has other sources of funds for the vaccination program like the general fund, Quick Response Fund, among others.
Tianero said personnel from the city’s contact tracing team and patient care and management team will not be used in the vaccination program. /rcg
