CEBU CITY, Philippines — A 30-year-old man landed in jail after he tried to evade a police checkpoint along the national highway in Naga City, Cebu late night on Saturday, March 6.

His arresting officers later on found out that Jonathan Batoctoy, who is from Sitio Lagang, Barangay Ocaña in Carcar City, was without a driver’s license while he also drove an unregistered motorcycle.

Police Staff Sergeant Raymond Romarez, desk officer of Naga City Police Station, said that Batoctoy is now detained and will be charged for the violation of Republic Act 4136 or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code and Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code or Disobedience of a Person in Authority.

Romarez said that Batoctoy came from a vulcanizing shop in Barangay Inoburan where he worked and was on his way to Barangay Balirong, where he is temporarily staying with his common-law wife, when he passed by the police checkpoint along the national highway in Barangay East Poblacion at around 10 p.m. on Saturday.
