CEBU CITY, Philippines — Police are still checking the footage of security cameras in nearby establishments of the area where a 30-year-old security guard was shot dead by an unidentified assailant on March 7 in Barangay Talamban in Cebu City.

Police Corporal Michael Angelo Singson of the Talamban Police Station said that they would need to find witnesses or hope to find footage capture during the shooting from CCTVs in the area where security guard, Francisco Salandron, was shot dead.

Investigation showed that Salandron was found dead with a gunshot wound on the chest at past 2 a.m. of March 7 at the Talamban Private Market in Sitio Tigbao of the barangay.

Singson said that they received a call informing them of a shooting incident in the area at past 2 a.m. that day.

When they responded they found the body of the dead Salandron at the market with a gunshot wound in the chest.

He said they had already contacted and asked the victim’s common law wife if the victim had no enemies, but the common law wife told them that she did not know.

He also said that Salandron was from Negros Occidental but was residing in Barangay Umapad, Mandaue City.

Singson said that despite this, they were investigating if the killing was due to a grudge, but they were also checking other possible motives that might shed light on the killing, help identify and arrest the assailant.
