LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines — The Lapu-Lapu City Hospital (LLCH) will already start its vaccination rollout on Tuesday, March 9, 2021.
This was confirmed by Dr. Ronald Oporto, medical chief of LLCH, where he would be the first patient to receive the vaccine during the ceremonial COVID-19 vaccination tomorrow.
Oporto, however, admitted that he was a little bit nervous even though he was confident with the efficacy of the vaccine.
“Naay kulba, siyempre naa gyud pero atong nakita kay first time man gud ni. Unya ako sa’y una gyud sa Lapu-Lapu. So naa gyuy kulba no. In fact, wala man gani ko nakatulog gabie,” Oporto.
(Of course, I am a bit nervous because this is the first time [for this vaccine]. And I am the first one in Lapu-Lapu. So I am quite nervous. In fact, I could not sleep last night.)
He said that he was not expecting to be the first to receive the vaccine in Lapu-Lapu City, because he thought Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan would be the first to be vaccinated.

Oporto said that out of 226 employees in LLCH, 110 of them had agreed to have the vaccine.
He said that the Department of Health in Central Visayas (DOH-7) had already allocated 220 doses of the Sinovac vaccines for LLCH that would already be good for the first and second doses.
He said that they were targeting to finish the first dose of the vaccination within three days.
Each employee who agreed to be vaccinated will also have to sign a waiver.
He also assured that the hospital would immediately cater to those employees who would manifest an adverse event after the vaccination.
“In the event naay mga allergic reactions, ang atoang hospital is ready to attend to that problem. Naa ta’y ready nga staff, naa ta’y ready nga medicines, naa ta’y ready nga area ug units to handle the situation,” he said.
