CEBU CITY, Philippines — Policemen in Cebu City made a quick visit to the mountains of Barangay Cambinocot on Tuesday morning, March 9, to breathe fresh air and plant 1, 000 fruit bearing trees.
Police Colonel Josefino Ligan, director of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) said they thought of organizing the tree planting activity with the help of barangay captain Reynaldo Lauro as their contribution to the betterment of the future generation.
“Actually, para nis umaabot nga henerasyon nato. Ato ning gipangandaman,” Ligan said.
(We are doing this for the future generation. We are doing this for them now.)

The activity was timed with the Women’s Month celebration and is in support of the national government’s campaign to plant 22 million trees this year.
Lauron promised to care for CCPO’s plants so that these will not go to waste.

On February 3, Cebu City policemen also planted some fruit bearing trees in the mountains of Barangay Mabini.
Ligan said they target to plant a total of 11, 000 fruit bearing trees this year. / dcb
