LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines — The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Lapu-Lapu City will seek the guidance of their regional office on how to go about the resignation of all seven Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) councilors in Barangay Pusok.
Aside from the seven councilors, their secretary and treasurer have also stepped down from their post.
John Michael Monillas, program manager of DILG Lapu-Lapu City, said that the resignation of the SK officials is effective immediately.
“SK Federation in Pusok, as an institution naa ra gyud na siya diha. Although, nibiya lang usa kay dili man gyud na nato mapugos kining mga kuan kung tan-aw nila nga dili na gyud sila ka-perform sa ilang duties. Like I said katong atong gipangutana nga kuan, posible nga once ma-release nato siya, ma-guided to, and at the same time ang atong mga concerned agencies makahatag na pod ug more specific guidelines on how to possibly nga ma-replace sila ug unsay paagi ana,” Monillas said.
But according to Monillas that once they submit their resignation, it will be deemed approved if no action was made by the concerned official after 15 days.
“Once they submit their resignation, tagaan na siya ug 15 days, kung dili na siya ma-respondan, then mabutang na siya nga ma-deemed approved,” he said.
He added that if their resignation letter will be approved, then the SK chairwoman of the Barangay, Laika Tampus, will be the only SK official left in Barangay Pusok.
Tampus also serves as the SK Federation President in Lapu-Lapu City and an ex-officio member of the city council.
Meanwhile, the resigned SK officials explained on their Facebook page that the lack of communication, proper feedback, and guidance from their chairwoman are the main reasons why they resigned.
“Kadaghan nami nag try ug reach out but we ended up thinking – if we no longer function as a group then we better resign. The youth deserves a more functional council who would address and carry out the goal of the sanggunian effectively,” the post reads.
The statement added that they tried to settle these issues with their SK chairwoman, but it didn’t work out.
“We did try settle but because of the repetitive problems and lack of proper communication and updates, at some point, we didn’t see any direction for the council anymore coupled with our frustrations about the lack of project implementation, so we decided to put a stop,” the post added.
CDN Digital has tried reaching out to Tampus for her comments but has not receive any as of this posting. /rcg
