CEBU CITY, Philippines — Authorities shut down a drug den, confiscated nearly half a million pesos or P452, ooo worth of suspected shabu, and arrested seven persons in two separate anti-illegal drug operations in Sitio Lawis, Barangay Pasil today, March 13.

At past noon, agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7) raided a suspected drug den in Sitio Lawis, Barangay Pasil arrested five persons, confiscated 51 packs of suspected shabu and several drug paraphernalia, said Leia Albiar, PDEA-7 spokesperson in a text message sent to CDN Digital.

Initial investigation showed that PDEA-7 agents conducted a buy-bust operation in the house of Inosencio Tampus, 58, who was suspected to be the one maintaining the suspected drug den in Sitio Lawis.

The other agents moved in when the transaction with an undercover PDEA-7 agent and Tampus to buy the illegal drugs was done.

Four other persons, who were inside the suspected drug den, were also arrested. They were Daryhl Cruz, 22; Arnold Sumalinog, 51; Eldefonso Laborte, 44; and Cedric Noor, 20.

Albiar said that the 16.44 grams of suspected shabu confiscated from Tampus had an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value of P111,792.

She said that Tampus was also considered as a high value individual, whom they monitored for two weeks before conducting the operation against him.

Later in the afternoon, at past 1 p.m., PDEA-7 agents conducted a follow up operation — against two siblings in their house in Ramon Magsaysay Street in Sitio Lawis, Barangay Pasil, Cebu City.

The agents served a search warrant against the siblings — Jongoy and Gandelayn Mahusay — searched their house and found 21 packs of suspected shabu weighing 50 grams, said Albiar.

She said that the suspected shabu had an estimated DDB value of P340,000.

She also described the siblings as allegedly the supplier of Tampus and were considered high value individuals.

Albiar said that they received a report about illegal activities of the siblings and Tampus sent through “Isumbong mo Kay Wilkins”, in the Facebook page of PDEA-7. 

The arrested suspects were detained at the PDEA-7 detention cell pending the filing of charges.
