SWU-PHINMA awards scholarship to Medtech top notcher

After one of its graduates successfully bags 6th place in the recent Medical Technologist Licensure Examination, Southwestern University-PHINMA recognizes its board passers in a virtual recognition last March 12, 2021.

The virtual recognition congratulates the university’s board passers as well as giving recognition to Salvador Sampayan Jr. who placed 6th in the licensure examination.

“You have brought honor to Southwestern University, as you join the ranks of those in the medical industry, I am sure you will succeed as SWU has imparted important teachings,” said President and CEO of PHINMA Corporation, Ramon Del Rosario Jr.

Real success is not meant by the standards set by society, said Salvador Sampayan Jr.

Del Rosario also thanked Sampayan for solidifying the university’s impressive rank by placing 6th.

The university was also named as the 3rd best performing school in the country, with 89 percent overall passing rate and 94 percent passing rate for first-time takers.

HUMBLED

Unlike most students, Sampayan shares that growing up, he was not as privileged as most of his classmates.

“I was raised by a single parent, and people have always doubted my dreams of becoming a doctor due to our financial instability,” he shares.

But with dedication coupled with hard work, Sampayan proved that anyone can achieve their dreams “as long as you focus, persevere, take risks and do sacrifices,” said Sampayan.

Salvador Sampayan Jr. placed 6th in the January 2021 Medical Technologist Licensure Examination.

“Our dreams are always valid, and dreams will always be dreams if we don’t act upon them,” he added.

With his efforts, the university awarded a scholarship grant to Sampayan, which according to him, he is deeply humbled by the offer making his dream of becoming a doctor one step closer.

“This achievement marks a milestone, that you aced this challenge despite a global pandemic,” said Dr. Marvi Niong the college of medicine dean.

Niong also acknowledges the efforts of the college professors for their hard work and dedication towards their students and for showing tough love, and their efforts in adapting to the new normal.

“This pandemic has brought significant changes, but I urge everyone to continue to adapt and navigate this pandemic,” said Niong.

“Real success is not meant by the standards set by society, and better days are coming…” added Sampayan. /rcg
