CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Pasil Fish Port will remain closed to fishing boats from Bohol as it has been affected by the construction of the Pasil Fish Market.
Market Operations Division (MOD) head Irvin Cabales said that the fishing boats should have been able to dock there by now, helping increase the supply of seafood in the city.
However, while the fish market is being constructed, the operations of the port have to be halted with heavy equipment and construction materials taking most of the space there.
“Ang problem gyod nato kay naa pay ongoing construction and wala pa naturn-over ang bagong building,” said Caballes.
The wharf is generally affected by the constructions since a portion of the port is also being renovated and redesigned.
As of now, there is no assurance when the wharf will be opened for the fishing boats from Bohol as the City Engineering is yet to give a timeline for the completion of the construction.

Still, Caballes assured that there is enough supply of seafood, especially for the incoming Holy Week.
The MOD sees no shortage of seafood products in the markets in the city, as other provinces could still supply products through cargo ships and delivered them to the Bagsakan at the South Road Properties (SRP).
The fish port has been closed for nine months now since May 2020 amid the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. /rcg
