MANDAUE CITY, Cebu – Make sure to check on your trucks before you ply the streets of Mandaue City.
This as the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM) said in a Facebook post on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, that trucks found not to be in good running condition will be flagged down and drivers will be sanctioned.
“This is considered as reckless driving due to the vehicle’s unsafe cargo,” said a press statement from TEAM.
Executive Director Edwin Anthony G. Jumao-as of Team has directed traffic enforcers to strictly monitor the roadworthiness of the vehicles, including trucks that ply city roads.
Trucks that encounter mechanical problems while on the road often cause traffic congestion, he said.

The TEAM statement mentioned as an example the incident on March 19, wherein the driver of a 40-foot container van was apprehended by Mobile Operation Section Officer Joseph Oliver Wenceslao while traversing F. Zuellig Street at the North Reclamation Area after it transported a “leaning cargo container.”
“All vehicles that are noticeably not running in good condition will definitely be flagged down, especially if these show danger to other individuals on the road,” Jumao-as said.
“Our traffic enforcers are always on the road to strictly implement the traffic rules, ease the traffic congestion and look after the welfare of all the motorists,” he added.
Traffic Operation Division Chief Arnold Malig-on said that trucks that cause traffic obstruction due to mechanical problems and drivers who are driving vehicles that may endanger motorists will be issued with traffic citation tickets and will be asked to pay the corresponding fines.
“The TEAM traffic personnel are always vigilant when it comes to this kind of situation,” said Malig-on.
