CEBU CITY, Philippines– A 16-year-old boy was rescued after he was caught with 65 grams of suspected ‘shabu’ worth P442,000 during a buy-bust operation conducted around 12:35 a.m on March 23, 2021, at the Ayala Access Road in Barangay Hipodromo here.
According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Randy Caballes, chief of City Intelligence Unit of Cebu City Police Office (CIU-CCPO), the rescued minor started distributing ‘shabu’ last January. He also works as a car wash boy.
Caballes added that they considered this minor as a high-value target, based on the volume of drugs confiscated from him. He said this minor can dispose around 150 to 200 grams of drugs per week in Hipodromo and some neighboring barangays.
Caballes added that the minor’s source of these illegal drugs comes from a personality inside the Cebu City jail.
“Ang iyahang amo na-a sa city jail, pag naay mga orders, siya ang muhatod, siya ang distributor, ”
(His source is in the city jail if they have orders, he distributes.)
He further said that other than the minor, they are also eyeing possible cohorts who do the same thing as the minor.
Caballes said that according to the rescued minor, he only took this job since he has no other way to earn for his daily meals.
As of this posting, the minor is still in CCPO waiting for transfer to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
