LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu—The Lapu-Lapu City Government has already started the rollout for AstraZeneca vaccines against the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) on Tuesday, March 23, 2021.
Mae Cheryll Tepait, the national immunization program nurse coordinator of the Lapu-Lapu City Health Department (LCHD), said that the city has received an allocation of 250 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccines from the Department of Health in Central Visayas (DOH-7).
She said that the vaccines would be administered to community health workers, which include LCHD employees, barangay health workers (BHW), contact tracers, and personnel from the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO).
“Ang mga city health employees, BHWs ug contact tracers, ari nato bakunahan sa Barangay Pajo gym. While ang mga DRRMO personnel, toa sila sa Lapu-Lapu City Hospital gibakunahan,” Tepait said.
(City Health employees, BHWs and contact tracers will be vaccinated at the Barangay Pajo Gym. DRRMO personnel will be vaccinated at the Lapu-Lapu City hospital.)
Ailyn Salivio, a midwife of Pusok Health Center, was the first patient who received the vaccine on Tuesday morning.
She said that she feels fine and that she has not manifested any adverse effects after she was vaccinated.
Salivio also urged other health workers to submit themselves for vaccination.
“Ako lang silang giawhag nga magpabakuna sab sila aron protektado sila ug ang ilang pamilya,” Salivio said.
