CEBU CITY, Philippines—Omega Boxing Gym stalwarts Peter “Thunder” Apolinar and Mark “Rasta Mac” Vicelles are both ready for their respective bouts in Omega Pro Sports International’s one-day double-boxing event billed “Kumbati 8 and 9” at the IPI compound in Mandaue City on Saturday, March 27, 2021.
Vicelles and Apolinar will spearhead OPSI’s two separate fight cards with the 25-year old Sultan Kudarat native Vicelles fighting Arnold Garde of General Santos City in a 10-rounder non-title showdown in the main event of Kumbati 8.
Apolinar, also 25, of San Pablo, Laguna, will go up against Juanito Paredes of Iloilo City in the main event of Kumbati 9.

The double boxing event will feature a total of 10 bouts divided into two fight cards.
“Handang-handa na po ako sa laban. 100 percent po pinaghandaan ko po ito ng mabuti at pinaghirapan ko sa loob ng two months. Pinagdarasal ko lang po kay Lord na gabayan nya lang po ako sa araw ng laban namin,” Apolinar told CDN Digital.
(I’m ready for the bout. I gave it a 100 percent in my two months of preparation. I pray to the Lord that He guides me on the day of my fight.)
Apolinar holds a record of 13 wins and one defeat with eight wins by knockout. Paredes has an 8-6-1 (win-loss-draw) 3KOs record.
Meanwhile, the unbeaten Vicelles (12-0-0, 6KOs) said that he is very confident of his training and is ready to take on Garde (10-10-3, 4KOs) in the main event of Kumbati 8.
“Kani nga fight para nako, andam na kaayo ko ug si coach (Jinggoy Junco). Di nako masulti nga ma knock out nako akong kontra, pero akong buhaton tanan. Si Lord na bahala namo sa fight namo. Wala lang madisgrasya namong duha sulod sa ring,” said Vicelles.
(For me, I think me and my coach are ready. I won’t say I can knock my opponent out but I will do my best. I leave everything up to the Lord. I just hope no one of us fighters will meet an accident inside the ring.)
