Despite leaving the Philippine National Track Cycling team, Wilson Blas continued to reap honors for his mother country as the Filipino rider snared four gold medals in the recent Southern California / Nevada Cycling Association’s (SCNCA) 2014 Elite and Masters Track Championship races in the USA.
Aside from the four golds, Blas also took home a bronze medal in the SCNCA 2014 Elite and Masters Track Championships.
Blas snared his latest gold medal in the SCNCA Masters Track Championships, which was held last July 12 and 13, as he ruled the Match Sprint competition, the 30-lap Points Race and the Team Sprint alongside teammates Henry Shibata and Kirk Edwards.
Blas finished fifth in the 30-lap Scratch Race.
His other gold came last month in the SCNCA Elites Track Championships’ Team Sprint with Quinn Hatfield and Edward Horvet.
Filipina rider Christina Ricafort, for her part, took her second serving of the championship title in the 3-kilometer Team Pursuit Masters race after winning the same accolade last year. She also snared the bronze in the 2.2-km Individual Pursuit race.
