Lapu-Lapu City wants to be known as “The Historic Resort City” when it launches today its branding campaign at the Hoops Dome in barangay Gun-ob.
The new packaging includes painting the branding colors in government buildings, street posts, islands, government vehicles and even uniforms of government employees; a tourism slogan, and promotions of the city as a tourism destination with lots of resorts.
“We have long been dreaming of this branding so we can attract more new investors which would then generate more employment opportunities and establish a clear identity of the city,” said Mayor Paz Radaza.
A full media and advertising blitz in print, broadcast and television will be included in the branding drive.
“The tourism slogan establishes the phrase “Free Yourself.” It is calling anybody to free themselves from stress and all hassles in life and try to come Lapu-Lapu City where they can enjoy a lot of things,” Radaza said.
“We are a city that has resorts, hotels and more coming with the establishment of Megaworld and the expansion of an international airport,” she added.
A committee has been created to carry out everything — planning through a series of meetings, including the hiring of artists, advertising agencies and designers from Manila to get things done.
Radaza said the city’s branding is backed by a city ordinance creating the activity to sustain it even if there will be new leaders in the future.
The city’s branding colors painted on government infrastructure attribute to the character of the Oponganons as the sky blue color means independent and trustworthy, yellow means positivity and warm, orange means fun, green means healthy and balance.
A video presentation showing the different resorts, hotels, beaches, recreational sports, trail adventures, bird sanctuary, dive sites, culinary tours, cultural and heritage presentations will be shown during the activity.
A fashion show will also be presented with the models wearing and showing all city’s branding colors also during tonight’s launching.
There will also be a contest in the barangays on how they can promote the city as “The Historic Resort City.”
A jingle of the branding will be played for the first time with dancers dancing to its beat at the launching.
