A FEAST of rice, bihon and chicken with coconut milk was prepared in a Muslim Compound in San Antonio, barangay Looc, Mandaue City to mark the end of Ramadan, a month-long fasting for believers of Islam.
In front of the halal food, their Imam, Jahmil Radiamoda, started the feast with a prayer.
“We prayed for peace for the Muslims abroad, and also peace here in the Philippines,” he told Cebu Daily News.
Anisah Ampaso, 22, said going through the tradition of fasting for one month would determine if one is indeed a “true” Muslim.
“We have so many haram – prohibited things – during the Ramadan, like having sex, abstain from taking food and water from sun up to sun down,” she said.
“When we saw the new moon last night in our worship, we rejoiced because we have survived,” she added.
Muslims celebrate the EId’l Fitr to mark the end of their fasting. Malacañang has declared today a holiday over the country.
