Critics say it with colors

PRESIDENT Aquino’s critics in Cebu City used colors to signify their dismay with his administration.

Militant groups wore peach ribbons to show their support to the impeachment complaint filed against the President before the House of Representatives while court employees in Cebu City donned black and red shirts.

An estimated 300 members of the militant Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan), Anakbayan,

League of Filipino Students, Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas, Student Christian Movement of the Philippines, and urban poor group Panaghugpong Kadamay held a “People’s Sona” at the downtown area yesterday morning.

The group marched all the way from Fuente Osmena and paraded a “Big Brother” house with images representing suspected pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim Napoles, Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala and Budget Secretary Florencio Abad as “housemates”.

Jaime Paglinawan, chairman of Bayan Central Visayas, said they are wearing peach ribbons to show their support for the impeachment complaint filed against the President in relation to the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP).

Freedom from Debt Coalition vice president Inday Tuling Olayer said they’re giving the President a failing grade in his annual report card.

Court employees are protesting the government’s move to increase tax deductions on their alllowances from the Judiciary Development Fund (JDF)
