Heady tonics, good food, and great time with friends – you can have it all at Maya Mexican Restaurant, Cebu’s first and only true taqueria and tequila lounge.
Since their opening five years ago, Maya has stayed true to the essence of the Mexican taste by serving delicious Mexican dishes bursting with colorful flavors and aromatic spices, using only the freshest, premium ingredients available. With close to one hundred kinds of tequila, Maya dominates as the only 100% agave tequila lounge in the Philippines, serving the best margaritas in town – their pride and glory. Maya has also made a name for itself with their potent mojitos, wide array of Mexican beers, and premium cocktails, ensuring that one drink always leads to another. Aside from the scrumptious food and divine libations, Maya is known for its clean and masculine interiors, and unique, striking accents, such as a massive bull horn on the wall, and a grid of colorful sugar skulls along the staircase. It is a showcase of traditional artistry with Spanish and Mexican influences combined with the sensibility of modern aesthetics.
On its 5th year, Maya has launched a new menu that is sure to excite regular patrons while attracting new fans. Faithful to its reputation as the country’s best Mexican restaurant, they will not only be offering bigger flavors but also bolder interior upgrades as well. Jason Hyatt, founder of The Abaca Group, which owns Maya, says that the new Maya is modern, tasty, and won’t have room for nonsense. In other words, just straightforward good food that will satisfy all the senses.
Maya’s new menu now boasts the largest taco selection in Cebu. It features 9 different taco choices from classics like chicken tinga, carnitas, carne asada, and crispy fish tacos, to new taco varieties including deshebrada (shredded beef brisket), cabeza (pork cheek), lengua, chorizo (spicy Mexican sausage) and al Pastor (marinated pork cooked on a rotating grill, which is available on Fridays and Saturdays). Also, new to the taco menu is your choice of handmade corn or flour tortillas, both made in-house. In addition, many of Maya’s dishes have been updated and revamped, and regional specials will be highlighted in the coming months.
Maya’s current drink and food specials are not to be missed. Get rid of your Monday blues with margaritas and mojitos at P80 only. On Tuesdays, get two for the price of one on all varieties of tacos. Wednesdays are sexy with free salsa dance lessons from 8:30 until late, two for one mojitos, and all burritos at P395 only. Reminisce during throwback Thursdays with local beers at P 80 only. And for a minimum of four persons, bond over the Para la Familia set dinner on Sundays.
Just as sugar skulls are a symbol for rebirth, so is Maya’s endeavor to broaden their offerings to give Cebuano food aficionados a whole new and different dining experience that goes beyond the usual.
Maya is open from 5PM to 11PM from Sunday to Thursday, and from 5PM to 2AM on Fridays and Saturdays. Maya is located at Crossroads Mall on Banilad Road. For inquiries, call (032) 238 9552 or visit their website at www.theabacagroup.com for more details.
