CEBU CITY, Philippines—The A5 priority group, or those who come from indigent sector, will now be included in the vaccination drive against the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

This was confirmed by Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, spokesperson of the Department of Health in Region 7 (DOH-7).

“The LGUs and those who received the Pfizer doses should have their master listing for A5. Remember, there is a specific instruction from the COVAX facility,” Loreche said.

Loreche said that in the instruction of the COVAX facility, Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines should only be given to A1, or medical front liners; A2, or senior citizens, A3, or persons with comorbidities; and A5, or those who come from indigent families.

She said that they have to abide by the instruction of the COVAX facility since the doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines were donated from them.

Due to this, A4 priority or essential workers will not be included in the inoculation of Pfizer vaccines.

“It skipped off the A4, which is actually all other front liners, economic front liners, uniformed personnel. That is from the COVAX facility instruction as to the allocation of these Pfizer vaccines,” she added.

Loreche, however, said that the LGUs can continue their vaccination to A4 priority group using other brands of the COVID-19 vaccines.
