CEBU CITY, Philippines—- Bogo City’s pride Joe “Jaw Breaker” Noynay will defend his World Boxing Organization (WBO) Asia Pacific super featherweight title in hostile territory when he takes on Australian Liam Wilson tomorrow, July 7 in New Castle, New South Wales, Australia.

The 25-year old Cebuano is ready to trade leathers with his Australian challenger after he successfully passed the official weigh-in today, Tuesday, July 6 in New Castle.

Noynay who fights under the banner of the Elorde Boxing Gym, tipped the weighing scales at 129.4-pounds while Wilson weighed in at 129.6lbs.

This will be the first time Noynay will step inside the ring after a 20-month hiatus. His most recent bout was against Japanese Kenich Ogawa in December 2019 which ended in a draw. That fight was held at the famed Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

Tomorrow, Noynay will try to defy ring rust by taking on Wilson, who is also 25.

Noynay has a record of 18 wins two defeats and two losses along with seven knockouts.

Wilson, on the other hand, is unbeaten with a 9-0 (win-loss) record with six knockouts. Wilson is not new to facing Filipino opponents having beaten three of them including Francis Chua, Rodynie Rafol, and Ariel Puton.

Noynay, on the other hand, is a tested road warrior. He won his first title, the WBO Asian Boxing Council silver super featherweight strap in China versus Jinxiang Pan via technical decision in 2017. He also fought three times in Japan in 2019.

Meanwhile, Boholano Czar Amonsot (35-5-3, 22KOs) will see action in the same card versus Australian Sam Ah See (13-0-1,6KOs) in a non-title welterweight duel.

Amonsot who is now based in Australia weighed in at 146.4lbs while his opponent tipped the scales at 145.3lbs.     /rcg
