A 40-YEAR-OLD woman was arrested after making a bomb joke inside the Pier 4 terminal in Cebu City.
Charito Abao, a native of Hubangon town in Camiguin, was detained at the Waterfront Police Station. She will be charged with violation of the Anti-bomb Joke Law, said Senior Insp. Evan Epe, chief of the Intelligence and Investigation Section of the Cebu Port Police.
Epe, who is also a lawyer, said Abao was one of the passengers bound for Mindanao last Tuesday night.
Abao allegedly caused a commotion when she told other passengers “bantay naay bomba diha (watch out there is a bomb there).”
Some passengers sought assistance from authorities that led to the woman’s arrest.
Abao was the second passenger to get arrested in two weeks for committing such offense.
Last Thursday, a drunk Jimboy Feloche, 24, of barangay Pausto, Baybay town, joked that his bag contained a bomb while it was being checked by personnel of Pier 3.
Feloche was released after posting P16,000 bail.
The two arrests should serve as a lesson to the public to avoid making bomb jokes, said Epe.
