Keep faith in Our Lady of Guadalupe, Palma exhorts Catholic faithful

EIGHTY-FOUR-YEAR-OLD grandmother Ester Borromeo and her 10-year-old granddaughter joined thousands of devotees of Our Lady of Guadalupe to attend the final novena Mass to mark her feast day yesterday.

Borromeo, a resident of barangay Guadalupe and her granddaughter listened to Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma as he spoke about the blessed Virgin Mary of Guadalupe’s continued protection of the Catholic faithful amid natural calamities.

Borromeo said she had been devoted to Our Lady of Guadalupe since she became a mother praying for the protection of her loved ones. In his homily, Palma reminded the churchgoers that the Lady of Guadalupe has the most number of pilgrims in the World.

“We need to know about the importance of her role in our lives. When we look at Mama Mary, she is telling us that she is the mother of the Lord, and that she is also the mother of us all,” Palma said.

Palma also said the lady of Guadalupe promised to her followers that behind all the sorrow and pain they experience in life, she is always there to provide healing and comfort.

Our Lady of Guadalupe also known as Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe in Spanish, is a title of the Virgin Mary associated with a celebrated imprinted image housed in the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in México City.
