Seven young and talented lady varsity chess players from different Cebu City universities will spice-up the much awaited WNM Susan Itaas – sponsored Cepca Monthly Qualifying Tournament – August Edition today at the Handuraw Pizza-Gorordo.
A total of P7,000 in cash courtesy of WNM Itaas await winners of this competition with the top 3 ladies set to receive a bonus of P500, P300 and P200, respectively.
Among those who will see action today are Jessa Ang Balbona, Aireen Robillos, Jazzel Villarin and Roxanne Tampus of USJR, KC Morala and Laila Nadera of USC and Marvie Abucay of UC.
The August edition, which will also serve as tribute to upcoming new member Women’s National Master Itaas, who will be celebrating her birthday on Aug. 11.
The tournament will still be the usual 5-round Swiss system tussle with the Cepcan player with the highest achievement in the tourney qualifying for the Grand tournament in December.
