LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines — Two regular city hall employees in Lapu-Lapu City were reprimanded after they were caught trying to squeeze through the line to accommodate their relatives in a vaccination site operated by the city.

Lawyer James Sayson, deputy for Local Vaccination Operations Center, said that the incident happened on Friday, August 6, 2021, wherein the city hall employees tried to insert their relatives in the line, even if they didn’t have a schedule yet.

“Dunay duha nga akong na-call ang attention pag Friday. Gikasab-an nato, atong gi-reprimand, wala man gyud to kuana nga i-sanction sila, ni-admit man pod sila sa ilang sayop. The good thing about it is atong nakit-an, atong nasakpan,” Sayson said.

Sayson clarified that they do not tolerate special treatment to relatives of city hall employees, especially that Oponganons are patiently waiting and lining up in different vaccination sites just to get vaccinated.

Aside from this, some are still waiting to receive a schedule for their vaccination.

Sayson, however, clarified that their basis on giving vaccination schedules to individuals was based on the prioritization of the targeted population and not on a first-come, first-serve basis.

“Dili na mahimo kay unfair na sa mga ordinaryo nga tawo nga gustong magpabakuna. Wala man ta’y priority sa gobyerno, ang atong priority ang mga senior citizens ug PWDs (persons with disability),” he added.    /rcg
