CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Police Regional Office (PRO-7) is expected to vaccinate at least 90 percent of its total police force in their week-long vaccination starting Tuesday, August 10, 2021.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Marilou Aboloc, Regional Health Service (RHS-7) chief, said at least 5,410 police personnel of the PRO-7 have received their COVID-19 vaccines. This is based on the vaccination update from the Regional Medical and Dental Unit (RMDU-7).
PRO-7 has 12,462 total personnel, which means 7,052 are not yet vaccinated.
Of the 5,410 vaccinated cops, 3,338 are fully vaccinated while 2,072 got their first dose of vaccine.
Aboloc said that they will be targeting around 300 to 700 police officers to be vaccinated everyday from Tuesday to next Monday, August 16, at Camp Sergio Osmeña, which is PRO-7’s headquarters.
However, she added that as they are expecting changes of data due to ongoing vaccine rollout from the Department of Health , they might be given different vaccine brands apart from AstraZeneca they received today.
To properly observe health protocols, Aboloc said those policemen who are willing to be vaccinated must be included in their daily listing as they will provide them with their schedules.
Aboloc further emphasized that the vaccination among police is not a mandatory, however, it is ‘highly encouraged.’
“Kay vaccination is voluntary man pud ni sya. Pero amo rang gipasabot sa kapolisan, hindi lang sa kapolisan together with the community na ang pagbakuna is para to protect sa sarila nila and pag protect the community din po,” she said.
(Vaccination is voluntary. But we let them understand, not only the police but also the community, that getting vaccine is a way to protect themselves and the community as well.)
Aboloc, meanwhile, reminds all policemen who already received their vaccine shots to remain compliant with all the protocols.
