MANDAUE CITY, Cebu – Police Colonel Engelbert Soriano, the director of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO), said they are not in need of augmentation from the regional office yet.
Soriano said they have enough personnel to man checkpoints in 11 municipalities and cities in the province that were placed under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine with heightened restrictions starting 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, August 11, 2021.
“We’ll make sure meron kaming sufficient na pesonnel sa CPPO. So hindi masyado ‘tong concern natin. There will be some compromises siguro lalo sa office work, mga admin work, medyo i-maximize muna namin yung field deployment namin this time,” said Soriano.
He said they are putting 24-hour fixed checkpoints in the cities of Talisay, Carcar, and Naga, and the towns of Samboan, Sibonga, Argao, Cordova, Oslob, Liloan, Consolacion and Minglanilla to ensure compliance of protocols that were laid out in Executive Order No. 38 of Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia.
Random checkpoints are also enforced in the rest of the towns in the province.
Soriano, however, stressed that they will inform the regional office should they need augmentation of personnel.
For his part, Police Brigadier General Ronnie Montejo, the director of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7), said they have manpower from the Regional Mobile Force Batallion (RMFB), whom they could augment should the CPPO need them.
