LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines — Six out of 31 minors who tested positive for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) from the Home Care Center for Children in Barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City, manifested mild symptoms of the virus.
This was confirmed by Annabeth Cuizon, head of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
The six minors were all boys and were isolated separately from other minors who also tested positive for COVID-19.
“Ang unom nga ni-manifest ug mild symptoms, lahi sila ug room ang unom kabuok. And the rest kay lahi pod sila ug room,” Cuizon said.
Currently, there are more than 40 children that were housed in the facility, wherein the rest have already yielded negative results of the RT-PCR test.
Cuizon also revealed that out of the facility’s 32 staff, 2 tested positive for COVID-19, 10 yielded negative results, while the rest are still waiting for the result.
“Ang kining duha kay pulos ni sila unvaccinated kay ang usa bag-o lang nagpa-inject ug anti-tetanus, mao nang dili pa pwede. While ang usa, with comorbidity, unya nagpaabot pa siya ug clearance sa iyang doctor,” she added.
The facility is currently being locked down.
Cuizon also assured that their needs will be taken care of, especially their food supplies.
She said that the facility has a monthly allocation of around P40,000 for their food supplies, while some individuals and organizations have also pledged food supplies for them.
“Sama sa RAFI (Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc.) mi-promise sila nga mohatag ug medicines para sa mga bata ug vitamins for their fast recovery,” Cuizon said. /rcg
