CEBU CITY, Philippines — Another road was closed to give way to patients waiting for admission in a hospital here.
After closing a portion of Don Mariano Cui Street near a noted hospital in the area, Gov. M. Roa Street was also closed to motorists on Thursday, August 12, 2021, to provide space for patients waiting for admission in their cars or ambulances.
CCTO spokesperson Paul Gotiong confirmed this as a temporary barricade was placed on a portion of that road that leads to the emergency room of a hospital. Traffic enforcers are also in the area to facilitate movement of vehicular traffic.
“Girequest ni Councilor (David) Tumulak nga pasiradan na ang area aron naay area nga kastandby-an ang mga pasyente,” said Gotiong.
The line leading to the hospital in that area is currently minimal, but CCTO expects the line to grow if more patients need admission.
CCTO said it is also monitoring the line of ambulance and patients in major hospitals in the city.
Gotiong said the CCTO is in coordination with the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) should more roads need to be closed near hospitals to accommodate ambulances and cars of patients.
Th closure of the roads near hospitals is the city government’s response to the growing lines of patients in need of admission.
Recently, Councilor Tumulak also announced their plans to put up medical tents outside major hospitals where lines of waiting patients are most observed.
