Lapu-Lapu gov’t pushes vaccination drive to Olango Island

LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines — The Lapu-Lapu City Government is conducting Saturday, August 21, 2021, mass vaccination against Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Olango Island.

Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan said that they are targeting to inoculate 100 individuals per barangay in mainland Olango.

Mainland Olango consists of eight barangays, namely: Baring, Caw-oy, Sabang, Santa Rosa, Talima, Tingo, Tunga-san, and San Vicente.

“Atoang gigahin ang matag barangay sa Isla sa Olango nga gi-required nato nga possible per barangay, they can have 100 individuals nga ma-vaccinated. Since we have eight barangays sa Olango, 800 pod na ka individuals ang ma-vaccinated,” Chan said.

Chan said that they already coordinated with barangay officials for the listing of individuals who would participate in the vaccination drive.

The mayor also said that they will deploy vehicles for the transportation of these individuals.

“We will provide a free ride. Our three coaster moadto sa Olango para maoy mohatod-kuha sa mga magpabakuna,” Chan said.

Aside from this, Chan said that they will also make a schedule for the vaccination of residents in the islet barangays of Olango, namely: Caubian, Pangan-an, and Caohagan.

Chan said that earlier, they already visited barangay Caubian, wherein they were able to vaccinate more than 400 individuals.   /rcg
