CRIMES in Capitol facilities such as the theft of relief goods in the Cebu International Convention Center will now be prevented with the deployment of 202 new security personnel for province-owned buildings, according to a Capitol official.
“The robbery at the CICC happened because of the lack of guards. But what can we do? We really lacked guards that time. We’ll avoid letting that happen again now that we have guards deployed,” said Chief Security Officer Loy Madrigal.
He warned that a single mistake by the newly-installed security personnel would be enough ground for termination.
“We gave considerations to personnel who weren’t qualified under the Terms of Reference so that they could render service,” he said.
But he clarified that the mistake of one guard will not affect the Capitol’s contracts with the GDS Security & Detective Agency and with the Tactical Security Agency Inc.
Guards will be deployed in key areas in the province including the Capitol compound, the Cebu South Bus Terminal and the CICC.
