A 52-year-old man died after he was hit by a speeding vehicle while walking along General Aviation road in barangay Buaya, Lapu-Lapu City Sunday morning.
Danilo Delgado of Portville Subdivision was rushed to Mactan Doctors Hospital for severe injuries.
He died after an hour.
Police investigation revealed that Benjamin Akol Jr., 24, was driving his Kia Sorento from his house in North Town Homes in Mandaue City heading for Carmelite School in barangay Buaya.
He said he lost control of the vehicle after hitting a big rock by the roadside and also hit Delgado.
Concerned citizens passing by stopped and called an ambulance to take Delgado to the hospital.
Traffic investigator PO2 Jobin Pino brought Akol to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital for a liquor test.
Akol tested positive for liquor use.
He said he came from a drinking session.
