Girl dies, seven hurt in boarding house fire in Brgy. Pari-an

A girl died and seven people were injured when a fire broke out at a boarding house in Bonifacio Street, barangay Pari-an at 4:30 a.m. today.

The six-year-old girl is reported to have succumbed to third degree burns. Senior Fire Officer Walter Cerbantes of the Parian fire station said the boarding house is owned by Jose Castro but was rented by Roberto Wong.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Still, Cerbantes said everyone should be careful with their electrical wiring especially with the prevalent use of Christmas lights.

He said only those registered under the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) should be used and not wiring and connections sold at the sidewalks.

19 families are being temporarily sheltered on the 3rd floor of the Pari-an Brgy. Hall.

Packed meals have already been distributed starting this morning. DSWD will be accomodating their meals for the next 3 days.
