First IPO trial in the Philippines

The Central Visayas German Shepherd Dog Association (CVGSDA), the first and oldest affiliate club of the German Shepherd Dog Federation of the Philippines (GSDFP), the latter being a member of the (WUSV) World Union of German Shepherds in Augsburg, Germany, will be having two (2) must-see BIG events this today and tomorrow. For the first time in the history of Schutzhund/IPO in the Philippines, CVGSDA in cooperation with GSDFP will be holding its first ever IPO 1 trial here in Cebu City. But to understand a little about what schutzhund/IPO trial is all about please read below:

“Schutzhund is a German word meaning “protection dog”. It refers to a sport that focuses on developing and evaluating those traits in dogs that make them more useful and happier companions to their owners. Schutzhund/IPO is a challenging three part sport (Tracking, Obedience and Protection) which was originally designed as a breed test for the German Shepherd, and has grown into a popular sport, as well as continuing to function as a breed test. A Schutzhund/IPO title is a pre-requisite for the German Shepherd Breed Survey or Koerung. As a sport, several countries hold regional and national competitions. In Germany, the big trial each year is the BSP or Bundessiegerprüfung. There is also a world competition (WUSV) each year held under FCI international rules.”

The IPO 1 trial is all set today. The first part of the IPO trial which is Tracking will be held in Cebu Business Park, Ayala and the second and third part which is the Obedience and Protection part will be in Northtown Homes Subdivsion, Soccer field. The judge of the said trial is a member of the United Schutzhund Clubs of America (USCA) and an SV Judge named Craig Groh (USA). Also, on August 24, will be our 36th Landesgruppen Sieger Show (German Shepherd Dog Conformation Show) in Cebu I.T. Park, Ayala Cebu (beside Skyrise 4). Both events are free to watch.
