It was billed to be a match between the unbeaten but in the end, it turned out that only one squad looked truly invincible as the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles destroyed the University of San Carlos (USC) Baby Warriors, 69-43, in the Cesafi juniors basketball tournament yesterday at the Cebu Coliseum.

In the main game, the University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers made sure to dish out some revenge against the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Wildcats and did so, overpowering their first round tormentors from opening tip to final buzzer in a 78-45 rout.

The win evened the Lancers’ record to 3-3 (win-loss) while sending the Wildcats to 2-4.

In the juniors division, the Magis Eagles’ offense was so potent that all but one player scored.

However, nobody reached double-figures with Jan Jaboneta leading the scoring parade with nine points and Nino Araw-Araw, Andrew Velasco and Renzo Calumpang submitting seven each.

SHS-AdC was so dominant in the entire game that it did not have to field in its best player, Fil-Australian Joshua Sinclair, in the entire second half.

Still, the 6-foot-2 stud forward finished with 11 rebounds on top of six points in less than 20 minutes of action.

The win put SHS-AdC at the top with a clean 4-0 mark while USC fell to 3-1.

In other juniors results, CIT-U crushed Don Bosco, 85-48, while the UV Baby Lancers beat the Cebu Eastern College Dragons, 77-47.
