CEBU CITY, Philippines — A farmer and his family in a mountain barangay in Cebu City can now enjoy their newly-built P400,000 house given by the Cebu City Mobile Force Company (CMFC) and other stakeholders.

Police Major Chuck Barandog, CMFC chief, said that they had turned over the house to the family of a 43-year-old farmer, whom he identified as Roldan Saballa in Sitio Mambao, Barangay Pamutan, Cebu City on October 4, 2021.

Barandog said this is part of their initiative, along with other stakeholders, which they called PNP’s Barangayanihan Help and Food Bank, “BAHAY MO, PUSO KO,” a program which aims to enhance the Bayanihan spirit of helping one another, particularly amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

It can be recalled that CMFC and other stakeholders on August 30, held a groundbreaking ceremony to build the house of Saballa.

“Actually, fulfilling kayo ang fight sa PNP organisation nga even if government organisation mi, and without government funds, naka initiate pa gyud mi og ingon ana nga program “BAHAY MO, PUSO KO” advocacy program ng CMFC-PNP,” he said, stressing that the house also serves as CMFC’s rally point, visitation point, and adopted family who symbolizes the face or presence of the PNP in the community.

Barandog said that Saballa, who has eight children, could now enjoy the newly-built house, though the turnover was delayed a few days from its target of September 30.

The house, which was made up of concrete materials, has an estimated cost of P400,000, and that the budget was reportedly pooled through the generosity of CMFC commander, advocacy groups, stakeholders, and CMFC Advisory Council.

Apart from that, the beneficiary also received assorted goods such as two sacks of rice with canned goods and noodles,  bath and laundry soap, diapers, biscuits, and an electric fan.

The Regional Chaplain, Per Barandog, also gave P2,000 cash and gifts amounting to P20,000.

Barandog said Saballa was just the first among the 15 less fortunate families in 24 mountain barangays validated by by the city’s Department of Social Welfare and Services (DSWS) and their respective barangay officials.

He said the second recipient would be a family in Barangay Malubog, where the house would also be expected to be turned over by the end of this month.

Barandog said they were targetting at least one house to be turned over among the chosen families each month.
