8 more fall in drug bust

Eight people were arrested in separate anti-illegal drug operations in the cities of Mandaue and Cebu and Cordova town over the weekend.

Arrested in Cordova was Elizar Baguio of barangay Catarman, who was the subject of a search warrant issued by Judge Teresita Galanida of Mandaue City Regional Trial Court Branch 56.
Baguio had earlier evaded buy-bust operations.

Arrested along with Baguio were Randy Pacaldo, 35, Ruben Sumalinog, 23 of barangay Catarman and Joner Calubong, 25 and Roger Casul, 42 both of Lapu-Lapu City.

They were allegedly sniffing shabu in Baguio’s house when police arrived.

Seized from Baguio were 20 small sachets and two medium packs suspected to contain white crystalline powder believed to be shabu, as well as drug paraphernalia.

Senior Insp. Alexander Nuñez, chief of the Cordova Municipal Police Station, led the serving of the warrant at around 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Nuñez said they have long been monitoring Baguio.

Another operation in Mandaue City also led to the arrest of one Loreto Gaerlan, 30, of barangay Looc.

Senior Insp. Jimmy Aguisanda received information regarding the illegal drug activity of Gaerlan, prompting them to mount a buy-bust operation.

Gaerlan was arrested at 5 a.m. yesterday and yielded 10 small sachets and two medium packs of what is suspected to be shabu. He told the police that he only started his illegal business three months ago.

In Cebu City, two men were arrested for possession of illegal drugs in barangay Day-as Saturday evening.

Police raided the house of Peter Boholes, 51, and also arrested his companion, Eduardo Dillion, 55.

An informant had called the Parian Police Station about the activities of the two, who are now detained. /With a report by USJ-R intern Chens Judale Pleños
