CEBU CITY, Philippines — Volunteers of Task Force Kasaligan will be deployed to help monitor compliance of health protocols among the establishments in Cebu City.
But Police Colonel Josefino Ligan, Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) chief, said that this would only happen if the renewal of the volunteers’ service contracts, which were set to expire next month would be pushed and approved by the City Council.
Ligan said that members of the Task Force Kasaligan played a vital role in the city’s fight against the COVID-19.
Noting their huge help in enforcing health protocols particularly in the interior parts of the barangays, Ligan said the task force’s 170 members would soon be realigned and deployed to help monitor establishments.
The CCPO chief said that over the weekend, his office received a lot of reports from concerned citizens about establishments that accommodated ‘unvaccinated individuals.’
It can be recalled that Mayor Michael Rama, when he was still the acting mayor, allowed establishments to cater to vaccinated individuals who would wish to dine in.

Ligan, however, said that they would still continue their inspection of establishments, especially since Rama planned to open all establishments for vaccinated individuals by December.
“Padayon ang pag-inspection aning mga establishment labi na sa directive [to open all the establishments for vaccinated individuals]. Mao na diha dako kaayo’g tabang ang atoang Task Force Kasaligan kay atoa napod na silang ipang realign,” the CCPO chief said.
(We will continue to inspect the establishments especially with the directive [to open all establishments for vaccinated individuals]. That is why our Task Force Kasaligan will be a big help because we will realign them for this.)
Ligan said he was hoping that their service contracts would be renewed just as it was being pushed by Councilor Philip Zafra, who was also the chairman of the committee on peace and order o the City Council.
