Former Cebu City mayor Alvin Garcia posted bail as soon as he received a copy of his arrest warrant a few days back in relation to the election charges filed against him by former mayor Tomas Osmeña back in 2004.
Garcia said lawyers of their family owned law firm, JP Garcia and Associates, are also helping him prepare his reply on the election case.
“Dili na lang ko masuko. Mo-file lang unya ko sa akong defense kay kahibaw man ko nga binoang na ni Tomas (I won’t be angry. I’ll just file my defense because I know this is foolishness),” he said.
Garcia said the warrant stemmed from an election case which former mayor Tomas Osmeña filed against him for allegedly exceeding the print ads limit allowed for candidates posted on their family-owned newspaper, Sun.Star Daily.
Comelec recommended the filing of the complaint against him in court.
“Inspite of the fact nga ni daug siya (Osmeña), vindictive gyud kaayo siya (Inspite of the fact that he won, he’s vindictive). Instead of being magnanimous in victory he went berserk,” Garcia said.
