Ten barangay chairpersons allied with the Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan (BO-PK) were called to a meeting with Team Rama officials led by Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella.
Buhisan barangay chairman Gremar Barete said they were asked what projects they need in their barangays for inclusion in next year’s budget.
Their former ally, Councilor Gerardo Carillo also explained to them the need to sell South Road Properties (SRP) lots.
“I’m not surprised and it does not bother me. I understand why the barangay chairmen had to be there and that is their decision,” Councilor Margot Osmeña told Cebu Daily News in a phone interview.
Osmeña said she would continue to greet the 10 barangay officials if she would see them.
Concerns
Barangay chairmen Cesar Dolorito (Babag), Lucresia Gabato (Tabunan), Gremar Barete (Buhisan), Harry Eran (Cogon Pardo), Rodrigo Jabellana (Bulacao), Tony Caruzca (Pahina San Nicolas), Jeffrey Navarro (Kinasang-an), Abraham Desamparado (San Nicolas Proper) and Julius Guioguio (Pasil) and Pasil councilman Ranie Arejo were called to the vice mayor’s office conference room at 11 am yesterday.
The group was met by Labella and Councilors Carillo, Nendell Abella and Philip Zafra. Reporters were not allowed to cover the meeting.
Labella claimed that he didn’t know who called the meeting, saying the barangay officials visited his office to raise some barangay concerns and ask about the plans of Mayor Michael Rama to make new SRP lot sales.
“Nagkahiusa sila sa pag anhi. Maminaw lang sad ta kay trabaho man nato ang pagpaminaw sa problema sa mga barangays (They decided to come together. I jut listened to them because it’s my job to listen to the problems in the barangays),” he told reporters.
