Catholics all over the world will celebrate the birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary tomorrow.
A prayer walk was held from the Capitol grounds to D. Jakosalem Street in uptown Cebu City at dawn break, Sunday. Over a thousand joined the annual procession dubbed as the “Walk for Mary.”
Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma presided over an open air Mass outside his residence after the prayer walk. The prelate reminded the faithful that Mary continue to look after the flock entrusted to her by Jesus.
“Mama Mary walks with us. Yes, we have ups and downs in life. And we thank Mary for being part of our joys and successes. But let us always remember that when we feel low and burdened with problems, Mama Mary is always there,” Palma said.
An image of the Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal was enthroned at a flower-decked altar near the life-sized image of St. John Paul II inside the Archbishop’s Residence compound.
The annual “Walk For Mary” was organized by the Association of the Children of Mary Immaculate – Vincentian Marian Youth (CoM-VMY).
